Project Value GBP 15K. Project GIA 25sqm
‘Second Shot’ is a social enterprise coffee shop in Bethnal Green created to train, employ and support the homeless; Their mission is to “Tackle Homelessness One Espresso at a Time”.
Tessuto took on the design as a pro bono initiative, and working on a shoestring budget, converted the tiny 25 sqm space into a café with an efficient “grab and go” service and 16 seated covers.
We kept the design of the space flexible, which enabled the café to be transformed into a community space after hours for the training and support of the homeless.
Tessuto developed a design concept using a palette of low cost, sustainable and robust materials including reclaimed timber, cork flooring, copper wall lights and car-boot-sale vintage furniture to creating a space that was both robust and inviting.
